Busy, Busy, busy....
I spent most of the weekend catching up on some yard work and boy did it need it! I had no idea that I could collect a whole wheelbarrow of weeds from one small flowerbed. I guess I should've been weeding a little everyday as my hubby tells me. He is so wise and I should really listen to him more about those things because I sure would save myself time. He is famous for great suggestions, but he is not great at weeding either and I practically had to beg to get him to mow the lawn. We have had tons of rain so everything was overgrown.
I did get to pick blackberries that we found growing around the outside of the lawn by the weeds and I enjoyed that. It took me back to when we were little kids and we used to go berry picking with my dad. He is a logger and he would always watch for patches of berries for us to help him pick. We would leave early on a Saturday and pick most of the day until we had enough for some homemade jam or a few pies. Then the next day we would come home and can or bake pies and sometimes both.It is sad that many people don't do that anymore. I told the kids if we got enough this weekend, we could bake some pies. They thought that its a great idea. We'll see how busy our weekend gets because we have a few home improvement projects that need to be started and if we need to do that, the pies will have to wait
The kids also had the opportunity to play with a turtle that daddy found in the yard. Deanna was surprised it could walk so fast and it got away from her when she ran off to play. Oh well, it was neat while it lasted. .
Last Saturday we took the kids to a Safari park and had a great time. I'll post some pics soon.
Take care and God Bless and remember no matter how busy your life is, take time to smell the roses and pick some blackberries

I can truely relate to the weeds, they seem to be the only thing growing here my flower beds are in some desperate need of some TLC. Its great how those little things like berry pickin can take us back to our childhood, those simpler days when we did stop to smell the roses and pick some berries, when did thigs get so hectic?
