Busy, Busy, busy....
I spent most of the weekend catching up on some yard work and boy did it need it! I had no idea that I could collect a whole wheelbarrow of weeds from one small flowerbed. I guess I should've been weeding a little everyday as my hubby tells me. He is so wise and I should really listen to him more about those things because I sure would save myself time. He is famous for great suggestions, but he is not great at weeding either and I practically had to beg to get him to mow the lawn. We have had tons of rain so everything was overgrown.
I did get to pick blackberries that we found growing around the outside of the lawn by the weeds and I enjoyed that. It took me back to when we were little kids and we used to go berry picking with my dad. He is a logger and he would always watch for patches of berries for us to help him pick. We would leave early on a Saturday and pick most of the day until we had enough for some homemade jam or a few pies. Then the next day we would come home and can or bake pies and sometimes both.It is sad that many people don't do that anymore. I told the kids if we got enough this weekend, we could bake some pies. They thought that its a great idea. We'll see how busy our weekend gets because we have a few home improvement projects that need to be started and if we need to do that, the pies will have to wait
The kids also had the opportunity to play with a turtle that daddy found in the yard. Deanna was surprised it could walk so fast and it got away from her when she ran off to play. Oh well, it was neat while it lasted. .
Last Saturday we took the kids to a Safari park and had a great time. I'll post some pics soon.
Take care and God Bless and remember no matter how busy your life is, take time to smell the roses and pick some blackberries

Absent Blogger returns! Read all about it!
Now that I have your attention, I will tell you that I have no great excuse for my absenteeism. Although it is summer and I should have a million reasons to stay off the computer, that is honestly not my excuse. I haven't been doing much yard work , laying out in the hot sun, taking the kids swimming or any of those summer activities that we all enjoy. I did go on a little mini-vacation last week, and had a great time visiting family and friends. Vacations never seem long enough and before I knew it we were home and back to the daily grind. At least I like my job and I am eternally grateful for that. I had all these great intentions to post pics of the hubster and Deanna on their birthdays and I have been taking tons of pics of everything to post, but haven't gotten around to it.... but I will soon.
We received great news yesterday. Our nephew, Joshua is in remission from his bout with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Thanks to all of those who have prayed for him and please continue to do so as he will continue to go in for testing and we hope he stays in remission. He has been such a brave boy and he is an inspiration to us all. He has been very positive and he has a very strong faith that has helped him through this. His little brother Aaron is a great kid and has been a great help to Joshua and his parents. They will be coming to visit us at the beginning of August and we are looking forward to it.
